Cashmere Lashes Aftercare: First 48 Hours & What to Avoid (Volume Set Lashes)
By Classic Lash & Beauty | July 11, 2026
If you want your volume set lashes to stay looking fresh, the rule is simple: keep them away from water, steam, heavy sweat, and oil for the first 24 to 48 hours so the adhesive can fully cure. A lot of our New York clients choose cashmere because they want that defined look without feeling heavy, and we hear it all the time: they feel “so light & natural.” Protect that feeling in the first two days and your retention usually stays stronger through the weeks ahead.

2-minute mindset: treat the first 48 hours like you’re protecting fresh nail polish. No soaking, no rubbing, no oily products near the lash line.
First 24 to 48 hours: the do’s and don’ts that save retention
This window matters most. In Financial District (Lower Manhattan), we see retention get tested fast because New York humidity, subway heat, and summer commuting can mean more sweat and oil around the eyes. So keep it simple.
Do this
- Keep lashes dry: skip hot showers to the face, pools, steam rooms, saunas, and face steaming.
- Sleep face-up if you can: less friction means fewer twisted fans and fewer early shed clusters.
- Brush gently: use a clean spoolie and a light touch, especially on eyelash extension volume lashes where you want the fans to stay fluffy.
Avoid this
- Rubbing or picking: picking is the fastest way to stress your natural lashes. If one feels “off, ” let us know and we’ll help.
- Oil-based products near the eyes: cleansing balms, oily removers, heavy eye creams, and face oils migrate.
- Mascara and curlers: both can snag extensions and shorten the life of your set.
And yes, a little shedding is normal. Your natural lashes shed anyway, you just notice it more because the extension makes it visible. What we want to prevent is avoidable fallout from friction, oil, or tugging.
Days 3 to 7: keep cashmere lashes fluffy, not twisted
Once you’re past the cure time, your routine gets easier. This is where eyelash extensions for volume stay looking airy instead of clumped or “leaning” to one side.
Washing is good. Skipping it is what causes buildup.
We want you cleansing regularly after the first day. Buildup from sweat, sunscreen, and city air can make lashes stick together and feel itchy. That itch is what makes people rub. So we prevent the whole chain reaction.
Commuting and workouts in New York
If you’re walking fast to the train or sweating on a packed platform, don’t panic. Just plan to cleanse when you can. For workouts, a sweatband helps keep sweat from running straight down your brow and into the lash line. Also try to avoid face-down positions that press your lashes into a mat or towel. Pressure is the quiet retention killer.
The simple daily routine we recommend for full volume lashes extensions
Your daily routine doesn’t need to be a whole thing. It’s usually two minutes, morning and night, and it keeps your eyelashes with volume looking clean and even.
- Cleanse with an oil-free lash cleanser (or an oil-free foaming cleanser made for lash extensions). Use gentle pressure at the lash line.
- Rinse and pat dry using a lint-free towel. Don’t rub back and forth.
- Brush with a clean spoolie once dry. Brush upward and outward, then stop. Over-brushing can fuzz the fans.
- Keep oils away when you moisturize. Put eye cream lower on the orbital bone, not right under the lashes.
Quick check: if you notice one little section lifting, don’t pick. That’s how natural lashes get stressed. Message us and we’ll tell you the safest next step.
If something feels off, we want to know (and fills at 2 to 3 weeks)
Our team is big on checking in and keeping you comfortable. People tell us we’re “so gentle”, that we “take [our] time”, and that they get “exactly what [they] want” for shape and volume. That same energy applies after your appointment too.
“They did such a good job in giving me exactly what i wanted to shape and volume. Also the retention is perfect. I barely had any fallouts yet or clumping or disorientation of the shaping”
one of our regulars
So what’s normal? A few natural sheds. A lash that flips after sleeping funny. What’s not worth waiting on is redness, swelling, pain, or a section that keeps snagging. Let us know right away so we can guide you.
Most people do best with a fill at 2 to 3 weeks. Our 60-minute, $90 fill is a more thorough 3-week refresh for a 90-piece cashmere set. We go back in, rebuild sparse areas, and restore balance so your set looks even again. If you work near the Fulton Street Transit Center, a touch-up can fit nicely before or after a shift.
And if you’re commuting into Financial District from Jersey City, Hoboken, Brooklyn, Long Island City, Queens, or Staten Island, we keep early-morning, evening, and weekend options available so maintenance doesn’t turn into a whole production. Quick note on lash health (because you asked)
When lash extensions are applied properly and you care for them correctly, they don’t damage your natural lashes. Damage usually comes from sets that are too heavy, poor isolation, too much adhesive, or picking and pulling. We isolate each natural lash, use appropriate weight extensions, and apply the right amount of adhesive. Regular refills also let us keep an eye on your lash health.
