Cashmere Lashes Aftercare: First 48 Hours & Week (Doll Lash Rules)
By Classic Lash & Beauty | July 22, 2026
If you want your cashmere set to stay looking fresh, light, and natural for weeks, the number one rule is simple: keep your lashes completely dry and away from steam and sweat for the first 24 to 48 hours. We see the best retention when you protect that cure time, especially here in New York where humidity and fast commutes can sneak up on you.

Quick context: Our cashmere full set is a 60-minute appointment with 90 cashmere extensions designed to give a soft, defined look without that heavy feel. Aftercare is what keeps that “still looks good at 2 weeks” vibe.
If you booked a doll lash style (that slightly longer, more open-eye effect), aftercare matters even more because the shape looks best when the lashes stay fluffy, aligned, and clean. We’ll keep this practical, so you can get back to your day in the Financial District without second-guessing every step.
If you’re still planning your appointment, these two pages help a lot: prepping for your first cashmere lash extensions and the benefits of lightweight cashmere lashes.
First 24 to 48 hours: the rules that protect your lux lash retention
Think of the first two days as your “hands off, keep it dry” window. We generally recommend you avoid anything that adds moisture, heat, or oils near the lash line so the adhesive can fully cure.
Keep them dry
- No water on the lashes. That includes splashing your face and letting shower spray hit your eyes.
- Skip steam: hot showers, sauna, steam rooms, and standing over boiling pots.
- No heavy sweating if you can help it. If you’re commuting in NYC summer humidity, blot sweat around (not on) the eyes with a clean towel.
Keep oils away
- Avoid oil-based cleanser, balm makeup remover, facial oils, and heavy eye cream near the lash line.
- Skip waterproof mascara. It usually needs oily remover and rubbing, which shortens wear.
- Don’t curl them with a lash curler. It can kink extensions and stress your natural lashes.
And a very Financial District specific tip: don’t rush straight into the Fulton Street concourses right after your appointment if it’s a sticky day. That mix of heat, crowd, and sudden sweat is exactly what we’re trying to avoid in the first 48 hours. If you need to commute, aim for AC when you can and keep your face out of direct subway-car airflow blasts.
Your first week with a doll lash set: keep the shape, stop the clumps
Once you’re past that 48-hour mark, the goal shifts. Now it’s about staying clean and gentle so your lashes keep their spacing and direction. When people say their lashes still look “so fresh & good” at the two-week point, it’s usually because they avoided rubbing, kept oils off the lash line, and started cleansing daily.
Workouts, sweat, and NYC humidity
We generally recommend waiting 48 to 72 hours before swimming or going hard in a workout class. After that, you’re fine to live your life, just cleanse afterward. Sweat and salt can leave residue at the base of the lashes, and that’s where you’ll start seeing twisty lashes or little “clumps.” If you’re doing a long walk like the Brooklyn Bridge on a hot day, bring a clean tissue and blot your forehead and cheeks. Don’t wipe across the lash line.
Hands off is still the rule
Picking at one lash because it feels “off” is how natural lashes get stressed. Lash extensions don’t damage natural lashes when they’re applied properly and you care for them correctly. The problems come from pulling, rubbing, or trying to remove them yourself. If something is bothering you, let us know and we’ll help.
Daily cleanse + spoolie routine (the part most people skip)
Cashmere lashes feel soft and lightweight, which is exactly why they can trick you into thinking they don’t need upkeep. They do. A clean lash line holds better and looks prettier.
Our simple routine
- Cleanse with an oil-free lash cleanser. Use a soft brush or clean fingertips and work gently at the base, then rinse.
- Pat dry. Press a lint-free towel or tissue on the area. Don’t rub.
- Brush with a clean spoolie. Start mid-lash to tips first, then lightly at the base to line everything back up.
- Keep makeup removers oil-free. If it leaves a slippery film, it usually breaks down retention faster.
If you wear contacts or glasses, you can still absolutely do extensions. We’ll just have you remove contacts before your appointment and wear glasses home. Daily cleansing helps a lot if your eyes water a bit from wind on your walk through Lower Manhattan.
Sleep, fills, and when to text us instead of stressing
If you want your doll lash look to stay even, plan on fills every 2 to 3 weeks. Natural shedding happens with or without extensions, you just notice it more because the extension makes that lash visible. A fill keeps you from chasing gaps later.
How to sleep so you don’t crush the curl
Back sleeping is best. If you’re a side sleeper, try to keep your lashes off the pillow and avoid burying your face into the corner of the bed. A lot of “one side looks thinner” comes down to sleep pressure, not the set itself.
We’re big on check-ins. Our team is known for being gentle, taking our time, and asking questions to keep you comfortable. If something feels pokey, if you’re unsure about a cleanser, or you need a quick touch-up before you head back to Jersey City, Hoboken, Brooklyn, Long Island City, Queens, or Staten Island, let us know. We’ll talk you through it and get you scheduled without making it a whole thing.

Cashmere lash aftercare FAQs (quick answers)
How long after cashmere lash extensions can I get them wet?
Avoid water and steam for at least 24 hours. We prefer 24 to 48 hours for best retention, especially in NYC humidity. After that, you can wash them, and you should, as long as you use an oil-free lash cleanser and gentle technique.
Can I swim or go in the ocean after getting cashmere lashes?
Wait 48 to 72 hours before swimming. Salt and chlorine can leave residue, so rinse after and cleanse your lashes the same day. Try not to rub your eyes with a towel after you get out.
Can I wear eye makeup or mascara with lightweight cashmere lashes?
Yes, keep it light and keep it oil-free. Avoid waterproof mascara and anything you have to scrub off. If you want extra definition, ask us about lash styling options instead of layering product at the base.
How should I sleep to avoid damaging my cashmere lash extensions?
Back sleeping is best. If you sleep on your side, try to keep your lashes off the pillow and avoid pressing your face into the bedding. Most uneven shedding patterns we see are from sleep pressure.
How often do I need fills for cashmere lashes to keep them full?
Plan on fills every 2 to 3 weeks. If you notice gaps earlier, come in sooner. Regular refills let us monitor lash health and keep your set looking even.
What does “lux lash” mean for aftercare?
We use “lux lash” to describe that clean, soft, put-together finish. Aftercare that protects it is simple: keep oils away, cleanse daily with an oil-free cleanser, brush with a clean spoolie, and don’t pick or rub.
